- Project descriptionThe primary objective of the Rio Preto REDD+ Project is to avoid the unplanned deforestation (AUD) of the 3,096 ha project area, consisting 100% of Amazon rainforest. The project area is located within 2 private properties in Nova Marilândia and Santo Afonso municipalities, in the State of Mato Grosso. This project was designed as a grouped project, in order to be able to increase its contribution to the standing forest with the addition of new project activity instances in the future. The contribution to sustainability is monitored through the application of the SOCIALCARBON® Standard, which is based on six main indicators: Biodiversity; Natural; Financial; Human; Social and Carbon Resources. The present REDD project is expected to avoid a predicted 1,287 ha of deforestation, equating to 477,066 tCO2e in emissions reductions over the 30-year project lifetime, with an annual average of 15,902 tCO2e.
