  • Project description
The project aims at promoting sustainable natural resource management and reducing greenhouse gas emissions from deforestation and forest degradation from logging and agricultural expansion. Through this project, a robust local institutional framework will be established to help land owners, including local communities, to manage forest and benefit from carbon funds. Activities include carbon monitoring, mapping assessment to monitor forest cover and the promotion of alternative and efficient energy technologies. The project is preventing logging and other destruction in the old growth forests by offering the farmers financial incentive that would have proceeded to deforest the area. Only a few area will be dedicated to selective logging.
