- Project descriptionOne of the biggest and most advanced REDD+ demonstration activities in Indonesia, KFCP is managed as four sub-activities: - Demonstrating emissions reduction from peat swamp forests - Demonstrating emissions estimation in peat swamp forests swamp forests - Demonstrating benefit sharing - Supporting local REDD+ institutions To do so, it will implement programs to rehabilitate, rewet and reforest peat swamps. At the end of 2012, more than two million tree seedlings of native peat swamp forest species have been produced in village nurseries and planted by communities to support the reforestation program. A livelihoods improvement program has helped rubber farmers increase the quality and price of their latex and is expanding to include other sustainable activities. KFCP is also developing an emissions estimation methodology and peat lands monitoring program – where data on vegetation, peat-depth, and hydrology, amongst others, is collected.
