  The Project aims to reduce deforestation and forest degradation by tapping into carbon markets and helping communities engage in alternative sustainable livelihood options. Some possible options which will be explored include: - The promotion of and technical support for community forestry and improved management techniques; - Value chain analysis for agricultural and forestry products, building capacity of local communities to increase income; - Exploring potential eco‐tourism activities to increase the incentives for sustainable management of forest resources; - Providing employment and meeting REDD technical requirements through community-based carbon monitoring. It will also help to reduce encroachment of agriculture into the habitat of the critically endangered Javan Rhinoceroses and other species
