- Project descriptionThe foundation of the project, and of the proposed avoided unplanned deforestation project, is the creation and long term management of an IUCN Category VI protected area. The project will conserve highly threatened biodiversity, bring new alternative revenues to communities and ensure the continued provision of ecosystem services. The main activities are: - Promoting farming alternatives to tavy; - Providing technical support for improved agriculture techniques - Constructing dams, irrigation and drainage systems - Establishing new revenue-generating activities that don’t cause deforestation (ecotourism, nursery management for reforestation activities, etc.) - Marketing the products of revenue-generating activities; - Streamlining of the management transfer process for natural resources - Supporting communities to establish partnerships and funding for development projects; - Preventing infectious diseases and promoting local health;
