- Project descriptionThe project is aimed at improving local communities’ well being and buffer the effects of climate change through the restoration of mangrove ecosystems of the Sine-Saloum Delta. The project is community based and consists of planting 1000 ha of mangrove (5 million trees) in 26 villages of Djilor, Djirnda and Bassoul. Project activities will include: - Sensitization and capacity building of local communities - Identification and restoration of degraded mangrove sites is 2 ways through the growing of Avicennia seedlings in the nurseries and through the collection of Rhizophora propagules and transplanting - Development of alternative livelihood activities such as market gardening, apiculture, oyster farming, fishing, etc.
