- Project descriptionThe project seeks to avoid deforestation by implementing a broad range of strategies within the Bosque de Proteccion Alto Mayo(protected area since 1987) and its buffer area. These include working to improve governance and enforcement capabilities of the AMPF head office; promoting sustainable land use by implementing conservation agreements with settlers; increasing environmental awareness and involvement of local populations; providing for the long term financial sustainability of the protected forest; working to integrate project activities into regional development planning.
